Is Solid Rock Custom Construction licensed, insured, bonded?

Yes, yes, and yes! We are a fully licensed Class “A” general contractor.

  • The Class “A” License entitles the company to construct, remodel, repair, and demolish any structure. A Class “A” licensed company or the company’s full-time employees may perform framing, roofing, swimming pool construction, non-structural remodeling, tenant finish, or repairs of all structures, regardless of occupancy or height. The Class “A” license does not entitle the licensed company to perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or fire protection service or work. • We carry general liability as well as workman’s compensation and our work is bonded.

Do I need to have permits for the work to be completed?

This really depends on the type of work being done. In general, if the work being completed is structural in nature or involves major changes to electrical or plumbing items, the work will require a permit.  If the work is more aesthetic in nature like painting, changing countertops or installing tile, then a permit is not required.  Regardless, we will help you determine if permits are required and we will apply for the general building permit, and when necessary, apply for permits which require specific tradesmen like mechanical/HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.

Do I need to have an interior designer or architect involved?

This depends. When permits are being pulled and specific drawings are needed, we will consult with an architect to have the appropriate drawings made.  Interior designers are definitely helpful as they can provide their expertise to a project.  We can refer you to interior designers (or decorators) if need be.

How long will the construction take?

This all depends on the scope of the project. For example, finishing a 700-800 square-foot basement with a bathroom and bar may take anywhere from four to six weeks from framing all the way to the finishing touches.

Can I live in my home while construction is taking place?

Again, this depends on the scope of the project. If we are finishing a basement, building an addition or remodeling a bathroom or even a kitchen, you can definitely stay in your home.  Wherever we will be will definitely look like a construction site, but we will do our best to be as efficient as possible and clean our site daily before we leave.  However, in cases where it is not healthy to be in the environment while we are working – for example, when we are applying oil-based polyurethane on wood flooring, you will definitely want to find other living arrangements during this time.
